Cover, Peek and Fire

The character no longer turns to face someone they cannot see.

What: Tucked behind a wall, the character turned to face someone they could not possibly see. A shot landed on someone already out of sight. Cover, peeking and shooting were built separately, and each had its own idea of what the character was doing. A player could also get stuck. Cancelling a peek while still holding the button locked the character up with no way out, which is the worst thing that can happen in a system whose whole promise is that leaving is always possible. That is gone. Cancel a peek now and the character simply stops where they are. I turned down a nicer animated return for the same reason: it would have put a delay in front of the exit. There is one answer now instead of three. Staying hidden beats turning to face a target that is only being tracked. Every shot checks, at the moment it is taken, whether the character can actually see the target. Both corners of a wall are there to be used, though choosing between them is not possible yet.

Why: When three parts of the game disagree about what the character is doing, the player is the one left looking silly.
