Keeping the Gun on Target

New footwork, and a gun that points where the character is shooting.

What: I'm testing a different animation system for how characters walk, run and turn. The new movement improved things right away. The gun took longer: as soon as the character strafed or backpedalled, the pistol drifted off to one side of the target. In the clip, the yellow line is where the gun points and the blue line runs to the target. On the left is the current game. On the right is the test build, where the two lines sit together while the character strafes and backpedals. Turning on the spot and circling a target still need work.

Why: In NULLWEAVER, shots are determined by a hit chance roll, so the gun's angle doesn't decide whether a shot lands. A gun pointed off to the side still makes the shot look wrong, and the player should be able to read a fight at a glance.
